Virgil van Dijk is reportedly considering a mega contract offer from Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal.
The 33-year-old Dutch defender, whose current deal expires this summer, has been engaged in prolonged negotiations with the Anfield hierarchy.
For example, he was spotted engaged in conversation with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and the club’s advisor Luis Campos in the Anfield corridors following Liverpool’s Champions League exit on Tuesday.
He also poured cold water on his future after the game, claiming that that he still does not know if he will be a Liverpool player next season:
“I have no idea.
If there is news, you guys will know it.
I don’t even know myself.
Everyone knows there are some conversations behind the scenes, but that is about it.
“At the moment, I don’t even know what will happen next year.
If anyone says they do know, they are lying to your face,” the Dutchman concluded.
However, while he insists he is unsure of his future, fresh reports from France claim that he is considering a mega offer from Saudi giants Al-Hilal.
This is according to French publication L’Equipe, who report that Van Dijk is considering the €20 million (£16.8m/$21.7) offer presented by the Saui club but is yet to give a response as he is focusing on the final stretch of this season with Liverpool.
“The Dutchman has received an initial offer from Al-Hilal (Saudi Arabia) worth more than €20 million net,” the report said.
“The Reds captain is considering the move and has not yet responded, preferring to focus on the end of the season, notably with Sunday’s League Cup final against Newcastle and another Premier League title in sight.”
