Virgil van Dijk confessed Liverpool were "sloppy" as they struggled to deal with a spirited Wolves side before digging out a 2-1 win on Sunday afternoon.
The Reds saw their seven-point gap at the top of the Premier League restored as they secured victory at Anfield, but they didn't have things all their own way.
In the second-half though Wolves showed their quality and pulled one back through Matheus Cunha's impressive strike.
Liverpool withstood some late Wolves pressure and Van Dijk insists, whilst they'd love to boss a game from start to finish, they will often come up against teams who can cause them problems and test them.
He said: "We'd love to dominate for the full 90 minutes but it is the Premier League and Wolves can punish you and create dangerous moments against you.
It says a lot we kept fighting and kept going and got the three points.
"Today showed at times that when we have the ball you can exploit it as well.
He said: "It was mentally difficult the second half because we thought we scored the third, then thought we got a penalty, both situations were correctly handed by the referee.
