Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has called on his team-mates and supporters to make Anfield 'horrible'(Image: Catherine Ivill - AMA/Getty Images)
Virgil van Dijk has challenged fans to help make Anfield "horrible for the opponent" as Liverpool aim to close in on the Premier League title with seven home games from their final 11 fixtures.
The visit from Wolves earlier this month, however, was noticeable for how tense the atmosphere became in the second half as Liverpool weathered a fightback from the away team to win a nervy game 2-1.
And ahead of the first of those final seven home matches, against Newcastle United on Wednesday night, Van Dijk says everyone needs to play their part to get the Reds over the line to secure their second league title in five years.

"I mentioned it after the Wolves game, that obviously it's pretty normal that there could be some anxious feelings kicking in, and that could still be the case," Van Dijk said.
"But I think it only helps us and them as well to make Anfield horrible for the opponent.
"Like most of the time we have been doing that, and obviously the way we play helps with that as well.
They made it very hard for us at Newcastle and it will be difficult on Wednesday as well.
"So that's our main focus now, recover, it's a quick turnaround, and nothing else other than Newcastle in this stage.
Hopefully [more home games is an advantage] but I think our away form has been pretty good as well.
We just have to keep going.
"Today was a big win, and I told the guys, don't take these wins for granted, but when you go home, recover and be ready tomorrow for the preparation for Newcastle, and that's the only thing we have to do, and tunnel vision, nothing else matters really.
"It's all about what you do yourself.
