Virgil van Dijk has revealed how is keeping Ryan Gravenberch hungry for success this season.

Liverpool’s charge toward the Premier League title hit another bump on Tuesday night as they were held to a 1-1 draw by an impressive Nottingham Forest side at the City Ground.

Chris Wood’s early strike gave the hosts the lead, but substitute Diogo Jota rescued a point for the league leaders with a second-half header.

Despite dominating possession and creating a flurry of late chances, Liverpool were unable to break down Forest’s resolute defense, leaving them six points clear at the top but opening the door for their rivals.

Liverpool remain in control of their destiny at the top of the table but will need to rediscover their cutting edge quickly as they prepare to face Brentford on Saturday.

And it seems that Virgil van Dijk is using some of his own methods to ensure that his teammates are desperate to win the Premier League this season.

What did Virgil van Dijk say about Ryan Gravenberch?

In an interview with BeIn Sports, Van Dijk revealed that he has shown videos to his compatriot on the celebrations of winning the Champions League and Premier League under Jurgen Klopp:

“He [Gravenberch] already knows a little bit how much it would mean if you would win [the Premier League or Champions League]: the celebrations; and all the hard work you put in throughout the whole season would be all worth it,” the Reds skipper said.

“I’ve showed him videos of the celebrations that we had [in the past].

It would be an amazing achievement and obviously all your hard work would be more than worth it.”

“When we won the Premier League we couldn’t properly celebrate it with our fans unfortunately, but when we won the Champions League, we had an amazing party together with the fans, and that’s definitely something you try to do again.

So that’s what we aim for,” the Dutchman explained.

“We like playing on the highest levels, playing against the best teams in the world.”

“Whether it is in the Champions League or whether it’s with your country, the best nations, you want to be playing teams that are the best or up there?

Because you can play against the best players and best managers.”

“I think that’s the enjoyable part of it, and it will be hard and the games are tough and difficult, but I think those are the games you enjoy the most.”

Liverpool will be wary of letting more points slip away as they aim to secure their first Premier League crown under Slot.

For now, however, the result against Nottingham Forest have proven that Liverpool’s path to glory will be anything but straightforward.
