Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has pledged his future to the club.
Van Dijk’s existing contract was originally due to expire at the end of this season alongside those of teammates Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.
But the Dutchman followed Salah in extending his stay at Anfield by another two years with a new deal reached after a successful period of negotiations.
Since joining from Southampton in January 2018, Van Dijk has become an integral figure for the Reds, making more than 300 appearances during that time.
He has won seven major honours and is set to add a second Premier League title with Arne Slot’s side currently just two wins away from being crowned champions.
Van Dijk was also crowned PFA Player of the Year in 2019 and named Man of the Match in that season’s Champions League final when Liverpool downed Tottenham.
The 33-year-old’s latest heroics saw him score a late winner in last weekend’s comeback over West Ham on a 100th appearance as Liverpool captain.
