Liverpool fans witnessed a dramatic afternoon at Anfield as their team fought back twice to secure a 2-2 draw against Fulham.

Playing with ten men for over 70 minutes, the Reds showed resilience to keep their six-point lead at the top of the Premier League intact.

However, the result felt like a missed opportunity as second-placed Chelsea have a chance to close the gap.

Andy Robertson’s first-half red card for a foul on Harry Wilson set the tone for a tense game.

Fulham capitalized early through Andreas Pereira and later Rodrigo Muniz, but Liverpool responded through Cody Gakpo and a late goal from Diogo Jota, who was returning from injury.

Despite their efforts, frustration lingered among players and fans, especially with key refereeing decisions that shaped the game.

Virgil van Dijk speaks on refereeing in dramatic Liverpool comeback

Speaking after the match to Sky Sports, Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk shared his thoughts on the officiating.

He praised the team’s fighting spirit but expressed disappointment with how the game was handled.

“A great comeback is very positive,” he began.

“It’s disappointing having 10 men, but we showed fight, kept trying to create chances.

Could have been more, but we take the point and move on.”

Van Dijk also voiced concerns about referee Tony Harrington’s approach, suggesting a lack of composure.

“I had conversations with the players of Fulham, and we felt like the referee was nervous,” he revealed.

“He couldn’t properly communicate with Robertson, I felt.”

However, he made it clear that Liverpool weren’t blaming the official for dropped points.

“We all speak about protecting the referee, but I couldn’t speak to him.

It shouldn’t be a big thing because he isn’t why we dropped points.”

Despite the setbacks, Van Dijk struck a determined tone: “Stay calm.

It was always going to be tough against them.”

“We had to turn it around and keep fighting.”

Liverpool will now aim to regroup ahead of their midweek clash.
