Liverpool fans received some excellent news on Thursday as Virgil van Dijk's new contract was announced by the club.

Off the field, this season has been dominated by the uncertain futures of Van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, but over the last couple of weeks, Van Dijk and Salah have both penned fresh terms.

Van Dijk's new contract will keep him at the club until the summer of 2027, and he will reportedly continue to earn £400,000 ($529,000) per week; Van Dijk is believed to be the best-paid defender in Europe.
