Liverpool are in the market for a new left-back this summer, with AFC Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez near the top of the list of targets.

The Hungary international has been one of the breakout stars in the Premier League this season, with Kerkez now wanted by Liverpool as the Reds are also keeping an eye on Dean Huijsen, another player who has shone at Bournemouth this campaign.

With Kerkez believed to be keen on joining Liverpool, a deal for the 21-year-old fullback could be easy enough for the Reds to complete, especially with the left-back role and position that Arne Slot is ready to splurge on this summer.

And Bournemouth’s stance on selling Kerkez to Liverpool could make a deal in the transfer window even easier to complete.

According to TeamTalk, Bournemouth’s owners will not stand in Kerkez’s way if the defender chooses to leave the south coast side this summer, with Liverpool leading the pack for the defender’s signature.

With Bournemouth ready to demand £40m for the former AZ Alkmaar defender, Liverpool could land themselves a potential bargain in Kerkez, who this season has been arguably the best left-back in the Premier League throughout the entire season.

Ian Wright praised Kerkez for his performance against Tottenham before the international break, with the Hungarian defender yet to allow media pressure and talk of a move to Liverpool affect his performances heading into the final weeks of the Premier League campaign.

Indeed, all signs point towards Kerkez moving to Liverpool in the off-season, and the left-back could be the first of many top signings the Reds make in the summer as Slot plans to overhaul his squad in the coming months.

Left-back is arguably the biggest issue for Liverpool to address in the summer, though Kerkez’s arrival will patch up that position well, especially if one of Andy Robertson or Kostas Tsimikas remains on Merseyside.

Away from left-back, central defence and midfield need addressing, with Liverpool also in the market for a new centre-forward, with Alexander Isak the top target for the Anfield side heading into the summer.

With the likes of Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez linked with moves away from Liverpool, big changes are expected this summer, and Kerkez’s arrival could be the first of many under Slot in the off-season.
