Earlier this weel, reliable reports from the PA News Agency claimed that Arne Slot and Liverpool were pushing for Jeremie Frimpong
The talks between Liverpool and Frimpong are in their early stages, but the club’s interest is likely to intensify if Alexander-Arnold’s departure is confirmed.
Frimpong’s release clause, reportedly valued at around £33.5 million to £34 million, makes him a financially appealing target for the Reds
The Dutch international’ established himself as one of Europe’s most exciting right-backs during Leverkusen’s historic 2023/24 campaign, playing a pivotal role as they secured the Bundesliga title without losing a single match and also lifted the DFB-Pokal.
Jeremie Frimpong.
Arne Slot confirmed that the club would do business this summer, saying to the BBC back in January:
“I know people sometimes question us because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well
There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad.”
“But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”
Now Chief BILD reporter Christian Falk has claimed that Arne Slot has told Frimpong, via phone, that he’s looking to sign him this summer:
“Jeremie Frimpong and Arne Slot were on the phone a lot last month
Both are Dutch, and Slot wanted to sign him in the summer
The Liverpool head coach had been telling the full-back he was still keen to get him,” the BILD reporter wrote for Caught Offside.
This relatively modest fee Frimpong’s release clause, around £33.5 million to £34 million, makes him a financially appealing target for the Reds.
