Arne Slot is alleged to have told Michael Oliver that he will blame him if Liverpool don’t win in the Premier League in an x-rated tirade after last month’s Merseyside derby.

Both the Reds head coach and his assistant, Sipke Hulshoff, were sent off after the final whistle at Goodison Park following a fiery 2-2 draw.

The FA slapped Slot with a two-match touchline ban and a huge £70,000 fine after he accepted a charge that he "acted in an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour towards both the match referee and an assistant referee".

Hulshoff was also issued with a two-game ban after being charged for both his red card and subsequent reaction to the dismissal at Goodison, while he was fined £7,000.

The FA have now published their written reasons for Slot and Hulshoff’s punishments, revealing what exactly the pair are alleged to have said to the match officials at Goodison Park that led to their dismissals.

Oliver reported that Slot’s manner was ‘confrontational and aggressive’ after he entered the field of play to confront the officials.

It was alleged that he initially used abusive words whilst shaking the referee’s hand including, claiming that official “f***ing give them everything” and that he hoped he “was proud of that performance.”

Slot approached Oliver again one minute later, where it is claimed he shook his hand again and said, “if we don’t win the league, I’ll f***ing blame you.”

However, Slot countered that he in fact said, “if we don’t win the league, I will have you to thank for that, though the FA maintained the the Dutchman’s language had been as reported by the match officials.

The FA’s written reasons then claim Slot turned his attention to the assistant referee and shouted twice that it was “a f***ing disgrace,” before being issued with a red card.

The Liverpool head coach did not deny this exchange.

Had Slot not apologised both privately and publicly and admitted the charge at the earliest opportunity, the commission would have instead imposed a three-match ban and £100,000 fine.

Meanwhile, Hulshoff is alleged to have entered the field of play to confront Oliver in an “extremely aggressive manner.” It is claimed he said that the Referee was “f***ing shit” and “gave them everything” and he was a “f***ing disgrace.”

Hulshoff continued to follow Oliver and had to be restrained by colleagues, but continued to shout “f***ing shit,” in the direction of the referee before he too was sent off.

When accepting the charge, Hulshoff wished to clarify his language used.

Oliver I would not want him to think I insulted him personally.”

Hulshoff avoided a three-match suspension and £10,000 fine because he admitted the charge at the earliest opportunity and apologised, and considering he had no previous misconduct offences on his disciplinary record.

Meanwhile, after Curtis Jones and Abdoulaye Doucoure clashed on the pitch after the Everton midfielder made a bee-line to celebrate in front of the Liverpool fans, both midfielders were sent off.

Liverpool and Everton were subsequently fined £50,000 and £65,000 respectively after both admitted the FA charge of having "failed to ensure their players and/or technical area occupants did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way following the final whistle" of the fixture.

The FA’s written reasons reveal that the Reds had promptly admitted the charge at the earliest opportunity and apologised and expressed its regret.

But they felt if sanctioned, the penalty imposed should be no more than in standard penalty case where the charge is admitted, given “the incident occurred on the pitch and a fair distance away from the crowd and that the involvement of the club’s technical area occupants was to defuse the incident in the main.”

Despite both Liverpool and Everton’s defences, the commission formed the view that the confrontation was more of a serious nature than either club had been admitting.
