Arne Slot spoke to his Liverpool players after the game against Newcastle

Dominik Szoboszlai has revealed the message delivered by Arne Slot to his Liverpool side in a team meeting held in the immediate aftermath of their win over Newcastle United.

The Reds took a huge step towards the Premier League title with a 2-0 victory over Eddie Howe’s side at Anfield on Wednesday night.

A first-half goal from Szoboszlai was followed by an Alexis Mac Allister strike just after the hour mark.



The victory moved Liverpool 13 points clear of Arsenal in the Premier League table.

Second-placed Arsenal have dropped points in each of their past two games, including their goalless draw with Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.

But despite there being a growing expectation that the Reds will be crowned champions, Szoboszlai has revealed that Slot is not allowing his side to get carried away.

“We just had a meeting with the gaffer, and he said, 'Well done, guys, but on to the next one,'” the Hungary international revealed to the BBC after the game.

“It is ten more games in the Premier League, but before that we have a Champions League game in Paris, so we have to be ready.

"Now we are going to have a little rest because, unfortunately, we don't play at the weekend, but then we have to be ready for Tuesday or Wednesday."

"Of course we would like to still be in the FA Cup, but that is how it is.

We have to focus on the competitions we are still in, and we will focus on all three."

Szoboszlai, fresh from a superb display in the 2-0 win over Manchester City last weekend, was once again instrumental against the Magpies.

And reflecting on his current form, the former RB Leipzig man admitted: "Yes, better every week and that is what I want to do game by game.

"It is about the team.

So we are happy."
