Liverpool’s reign as Carabao Cup holders came to an end on Sunday after a 2-1 loss in the final against Newcastle United.
Dan Burn and rumoured Liverpool target Alexander Isak immortalised themselves as legends for Newcastle as the pair provided the goals for the Magpies to set them on their way to a famous win at Wembley Stadium, with Federico Chiesa adding one for the Reds in stoppage time.
With Mohamed Salah criticised by Gary Neville for his performance, it was a game to forget for Liverpool fans, who were still as loud as always in the Wembley stand even with Arne Slot missing out on the chance to win his first trophy with the Reds.
And Micah Richards has now shared who were the louder fans between Liverpool and Newcastle on Sunday.

Speaking on the Rest is Football, the pundit noted how both sets of fans were equally loud at the start of the game, but then Wembley exploded into life after Burn’s opener, which Richards said was the loudest he’s heard any set of supporters at the 90,000-seater stadium.
Indeed, PSG boss Luis Enrique recently praised Liverpool fans for the atmosphere they created at Anfield in last week’s UEFA Champions League clash on Merseyside, with the iconic stadium regarded as one of the hardest for any travelling team to visit.
Yet Sunday saw the script flipped at Wembley, with Richards saying about the sets of fans: “Liverpool fans are always incredible.
You go to Anfield and the noise levels are remarkable, and Newcastle are the same.
“Normally when you go to Wembley, there’s one side that’s louder, but it was equally as loud, it was mayhem.
We were right on the halfway line, and when Newcastle scored, I couldn’t believe what I was hearing, it was crazy, a great atmosphere.”
MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES
Liverpool fans have a proud reputation as some of the most passionate and loyal out of any team in England, with Wembley bouncing before Burn’s opener for Newcastle swung the game in the Toon’s favour.
Yet even the biggest and most loyal Liverpool fan will agree that Sunday’s Carabao Cup final was a day that belonged to Newcastle right from the start, with the Magpies deserved winners in the English capital.
For the neutral, Newcastle winning their first domestic cup in 70 years was a fitting way for the final to end, and Liverpool fans know they will soon have their own party of their own when they’re crowned Premier League champions.
