Arne Slot has revealed what Liverpool owner John Henry told him during the title celebrations on Sunday.

Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur 5-1 at Anfield on Sunday afternoon to secure the club’s 20th top-flight championship, sparking unforgettable scenes at the full-time whistle.

The Reds needed just a point to mathematically secure the title on Sunday.

But after a raucous welcome from the crowd, it looked like their title party would be delayed a bit when they fell behind to a Dominic Solanke goal early in the game.

But they rallied and ensured that the party was not postponed till next Sunday at Stamford Bridge, with goals from Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah, plus a Destiny Udogie own goal.

In securing the title with four games to go, Slot became just the fifth boss in Premier League history to win the crown in their debut season in the competition.

Liverpool’s majority shareholder, John Henry, and his wife, Linda Pizzuti, were in attendance on the historic evening!

After the game, they joined the Liverpool staff and players on the Anfield pitch to celebrate the win.

The American businessman and his wife were also spotted talking with Slot, and the Dutchman has now revealed what he told them.

Asked what John Henry said to him after the final whistle, Slot replied:

“Probably congratulations.

I don’t remember exactly what he said but it was special for them as well to be part of this moment.

“For them to trust me to be in this position, maybe now everybody says, ‘That makes complete sense.’ But the moment they signed me, maybe not everyone was as convinced as everyone is now.

“So, that tells you also what a special club this is that they don’t always go for the maybe the most simple or obvious choice – they make the choice that they think is best for the club?

It must be a special moment for them as well, the second time in five years that they have won the league.

“And now to do this in front of our fans is special for everyone, including them.”
