Two weeks is a long time in football, and no player has experienced such a change in perception more than Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool.
The England international has quickly become a pantomime villain for some amongst Reds supporters after news broke during the international break that Alexander-Arnold was close to reaching an agreement to join Real Madrid.
With the likes of Jamie Carragher split on Alexander-Arnold’s decision to join Madrid, the 26-year-old Liverpool defender himself will be focused on seeing the season out with Liverpool and lifting his second Premier League title.
And the right-back was today spotted at Liverpool’s training centre despite being out injured for this Wednesday’s tie against Everton.

As per Liverpool’s official Twitter account, Alexander-Arnold was seen greeting his Liverpool teammates ahead of this week’s Merseyside derby, all of whom are now back at the AXA Training Centre after a long international break.
With Liverpool fans trying to decode Alexander-Arnold’s body language in the few seconds the defender is shown in the clip, the fullback making an appearance in the video alone could hint towards the club still wanting to put the England international on a pedestal.
Indeed, Alexander-Arnold has been one of Liverpool’s best players this season under Arne Slot with the 26-year-old a key reason behind the Reds’ fantastic form in the Premier League and Mohamed Salah’s historic year in the top-flight.

And heading into the final games of the season, Alexander-Arnold will be desperate to be involved, with the Liverpool defender a main reason why the Merseyside giants have been as good as they have been in recent years under Jurgen Klopp and now Slot.
With Alexander-Arnold’s ambition to join Madrid based on winning the Ballon d’Or, few Liverpool fans can blame the defender for wanting to make a move to the biggest club in world, where the fullback can hit new heights.
And in the final eight weeks of the 2024/25 Premier League season, Liverpool fans need to ensure they give Alexander-Arnold a send-off that is worthy of the defender, who since breaking into the first-team has won everything there is to win.
Whilst Alexander-Arnold not continuing his career at Liverpool is a shame, a move to Madrid should do little to damage is his legacy at Anfield, where the fullback will be remembered as one of the best to put on the famous red shirt.
