Slot won the Dutch league with Feyenoord during his second season at the club and did so in impressive fashion.
During the last 14 games of the 2022/23 season, Slot’s team won 13 matches in a row before losing on the final day with the league already wrapped up.
This run was crucial to the Rotterdam club winning the league that season and it included big wins over teams such as Ajax and AZ Alkmaar; while it also saw Slot’s men keep only four clean sheets, which is something Liverpool fans are a bit concerned about with their team at present.
The 2022/23 season at Feyenoord shows that Slot can deal with the pressure of a title race and the Dutch coach knows how to get it done again, which was evident on Tuesday when speaking to the press.
Liverpool will be without Cody Gakpo and Joe Gomez for their trip to Aston Villa with the contest in Birmingham signifying 13 games until the Premier League season concludes.
Fans of the Reds should not expect Slot’s team to win all 13 as he did at Feyenoord and more importantly, the Dutch coach knows that.
Speaking to the press on Tuesday, the Liverpool boss shared what he has taken from winning the Eredivisie and his words highlight how calm he is about his team’s current situation.
“If there’s any experience I’ve learned from winning a league title, it is in general in a season if there are 38 games to be played, don’t expect you have 38 times fantastic football,” the Dutch coach said via the Liverpool Echo.
“If you are a very good team and a very special team you play 20-25 very good games then you play a few mediocre ones and you play a few very bad ones.
