Mohamed Salah brought joy to every Liverpool fan earlier this month by signing a new contract with the Reds.

The Egyptian international ended months of speculation by putting pen to paper on a two-year extension with the Anfield side, with Salah set to remain at Liverpool until 2027 in what is a major coup for the Premier League leaders.

With Virgil van Dijk also signing a new Liverpool contract, Arne Slot now has two of his best players tied down to fresh terms at the peak of their careers, with next season already shaping up to be an exciting one for the Reds.

And Liverpool star Dominik Szoboszlai has now shared how he reacted when he found out about Salah’s new deal.

Speaking to Sky Sports News, the Hungarian international shared how ‘happy’ he was with Salah’s decision to sign a new contract with Liverpool, with Szoboszlai hinting that he knew about the news way before an official announcement was made.

With Salah setting a new Premier League record seemingly every week, Liverpool securing the 32-year-old’s services for another two seasons is nothing short of massive, with the winger in the best form of his life under Slot.

And Szoboszlai is thrilled that Salah has chosen to stay with Liverpool for the next two years, with the Premier League leaders having all the tools needed to create a new dynasty in England if they can get their summer signing spot on this off-season.

Szoboszlai said: “When I found out, I won’t tell our secrets between us [him and Salah], but I’m really happy that he extended his contract and that he will stay here two more years, I’m happy to play alongside him.”

Salah and Van Dijk’s futures have been huge talking points this season, with Liverpool managing to secure the pair down to new deals at the cost of Trent Alexander-Arnold potentially joining Real Madrid this summer.

Yet football is a sport that stops for nothing, and Liverpool have more players that are in need of signing new contracts, with talks ongoing with Ibrahima Konate as Conor Bradley is set for a new deal ahead of replacing Alexander-Arnold next season.

Indeed, Liverpool dropped the ball big time on allowing three huge players to head into this summer as free agents, and the Reds need to ensure that such a mistake doesn’t happen again going into the future.
