A Luis Diaz contract update from Colombia has emerged this week as the club’s clinched a 20th topflight title on Sunday
As Liverpool celebrated the occasion, Luis Diaz’s contributions stood out in a season defined by resilience and reinvention.
The Colombian winger, whose 15 goals and 5 assists across all competitions solidified his role in Arne Slot’s system, now faces a summer of uncertainty amid stalled contract talks.
The 28-year-old’s current £55,000-per-week deal runs until 2027, meaning that he will soon be within a year of his deal expiring – all while his market value continues to drop with age.
Barcelona have been linked with the attacker, but Fabrizio Romano has also warned of Saudi interest.
Romano suggests that the 28-year-old may have a big decision on his hands this summer.
And amid this speculation, well-known Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra has now taken to Instagram to report that Liverpool want to open talks with Diaz in the coming weeks and keep him at the club.
Sierra wrote that these talks are crucial as to whether the Colombian is sold while his value is high or remains at Anfield:
“Liverpool will start renewal dialogues with Luis Diaz (28) in the coming weeks?
This conversation will be defined if it continues or if it can go in the summer and be sold.”
“The Colombian is the #17 on the list of the club’s highest paid and his contract expires in June 2027.”
