Liverpool have edged closer to the Premier League title without even playing.

They watched closest rivals Arsenal come to Merseyside and draw with Everton which means the Reds can further extend their lead.

Arne Slot's side head to the capital to face Fulham on Sunday and, by the close of the weekend, could be 14 points clear at the summit.

Prior to this weekend Liverpool needed 13 more points to guarantee the title regardless of other results, but Arsenal's slip-up means the trophy is even more within their grasp.

Arsenal can reach, at best, 83 points with the Gunners unable to hit the heights of previous seasons.

A loss for the Gunners at Everton would've presented Liverpool with the chance to potentially lift the trophy on April 20 against Leicester.

Even after the stalemate at Goodison Park that day is still a possible date whereby Slot could be celebrating the club's second Premier League title, but it would require a huge capitulation from Mikel Arteta's side.

The Spaniard has refused to admit defeat in the title race when he's been quizzed in recent weeks, even if it does look to be beyond the north Londoners.

Liverpool have been ruthless throughout the season and have rarely dropped points, losing just once.

Liverpool host Arsenal in May, which is the third last game of the season, but by that point it could be a game with pride at stake and nothing more given the state of affairs.

The window of games that begins on April 20 against Leicester and ends two weeks later on May 4 at Chelsea is likely to be the period whereby the Reds confirm themselves as champions.

In between that they host Tottenham at Anfield, which would be an ideal scenario given it would be in front of their own fans.

Declan Rice, who played in the draw at Everton, admitted earlier this week that Arsenal can only have themselves to blame for failing to keep the pressure on Liverpool.
