Liverpool are looking ahead to what could be an exciting year for the club.

The Reds spent the second part of 2024 putting themselves in an excellent position to win the Premier League title.

In 2025, they will hope to continue their promising work, with an Anfield clash against Manchester United the first task of the new year.

With United in terrible form under Ruben Amorim, Mohamed Salah will be licking his lips at the prospect of hitting yet more goals against Liverpool’s biggest rivals.

Salah has found the net 15 times against United during his Liverpool career and will be disappointed if he does not add to that on Sunday.

But as Mo gets ready to start another year in top form, he will be hard pushed to better his numbers from what turned out to be a stunning 2024.

Salah has been unreal in 2024/25.

After a sluggish end to the previous campaign, the 32-year-old has come out all guns blazing.

It could of course be that 2024 was Salah’s final full year as a Liverpool player.

If that does turn out to be the case, then it was some way to go out.

MORE LIVERPOOL STORIES

The Egypt captain is currently sitting top of both the scoring and assisting charts in the Premier League, with 17 goals and 13 assists.

His total of 30 goal contributions puts Salah 12 ahead of nearest challenger Cole Palmer.

And as per a table released by Amazon Prime Sport on Tuesday, Salah has also beaten the likes of Harry Kane, Vinicius Jnr, Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland to record the most goal contributions in Europe’s top five leagues in 2024.

Sitting two clear of Kane on 52, Salah finished the year 12 ahead of Haaland and eight ahead of Chelsea golden boy Palmer.

Although the Ballon d’Or is no longer decided based on 12-montly contributions, this statistic still shows that Salah will be right up there when the 2025 gong is handed out.

For that to happen, it is likely that Liverpool will need to win the Premier League and potentially the Champions League.

But in the kind of form they are, that does not look beyond Arne Slot’s team.

Certainly, if Liverpool do manage to do the business and Salah maintains his form to any kind of degree, then the Egyptian will not have many rivals.

Some of the other names on this particular list may feel they deserve the glory of being named the world’s greatest player.

But it feels like it could be Mo’s year.
