Liverpool made hard work of things but ultimately came away with a 3-1 against Southampton on Saturday.
The Reds were hoping for a much better performance than the one turned in during the PSG game in midweek.
Unfortunately, during a tepid first-half, it was very much more of the same from Liverpool.
But they were able to hang in there and come away with a win in Paris and against lower calibre opposition in the Premier League, they did exactly the same.
A big part of the reason Liverpool turned things around was the substitutions made by Arne Slot.
Sitting in the stands for the final game of his touchline ban, Slot made three changes at half-time.
As the game wore on, the Liverpool head coach made three more subs, one more than the regulation five.
After the game, it was revealed whether the Reds could face sanctions from the Premier League for making one extra change.

Slot’s pro-active substitutions have been a real feature of the Dutchman’s successful time as Liverpool boss.
Where Jurgen Klopp could at times be reticent to change things too much during matches, Slot has no problem tearing things up and starting again.

However, those with a keen eye noticed that in putting Jarell Quansah on with just 90 seconds remaining, Slot had used more subs than usually allowed.
According to journalist David Lynch, Mohamed Salah was one of those stunned by what he was seeing, and was seen remonstrating with the bench not to allow Quansah on.

“Mohamed Salah has just been desperately trying to stop Liverpool making a sixth substitution there so they don’t get docked points,” Lynch posted on X.
“Looked like the referee had to explain to him they get an extra one due to the earlier head injury.”
It may seem strange, but as Lynch covers and as corroborated by journalist Lewis Steele, Liverpool were allowed one extra substitution on Saturday.
The reason for that is because Southampton’s Jan Bednarek was forced off with a head injury during the first-half.
Due to the Premier League’s concussion protocols, this allows both teams the chance to make six changes instead of the regulation five.
Slot utilised this, bringing on Alexis Mac Allister, Andy Robertson, Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota, Wataru Endo and Quansah.
Even with six substitutions, there was not a sniff for poor Federico Chiesa, though.
