Liverpool are set to welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Anfield for the second leg of their Carabao Cup Semi-Final on Thursday.
The Reds are currently one-nil down at half time in the tie, after Lucas Bergvall gave Spurs the edge in their home leg, but Liverpool will try to overturn the small deficit and book a Wembley final date for the second successive season.
With the January transfer window slamming shut on Monday, we will be taking a look at the opposition and whether Tottenham’s new additions are eligible to play tonight.
MATHYS TELCredit: Tottenham Hotspur.
Mathys Tel signed for Tottenham in a Deadline Day loan move from Bayern Munich, with an option for the forward to join permanently at the end of the season.
Various Premier League clubs had taken an interest in Tel, including Manchester United and Aston Villa, but Spurs won the battle for the 19-year-old.
Postecoglou was asked on his new forward in his pre-match press conference, and confirmed that the Frenchman would be available to make his debut at Anfield.
He commented: “Mathys is available, he has trained and cleared to play.”
Tel is versatile and this allows him to slot in anywhere across the forward line, and predominantly played as a winger for Bayern Munich.
In 83 appearances, he netted just 16 times and provided 7 assists, although has been second fiddle for most of his time in Munich.
Tel joins Tottenham to add to their attacking ranks following Dominic Solanke’s long-term injury absence, alongside wingers Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert, who aren’t expected to return until the middle of the month.

Tottenham also added centre-half Kevin Danso to their squad, in another loan move from French outfit, Racing Club de Lens.
They pipped fellow Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers to his signature, after everything was originally agreed for Danso to head to Wolves, until Tottenham made the call.
The 26-year-old adds needed depth to their defensive numbers, with Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven experiencing multiple issues caused by a lack of fitness or injury.
Danso had started every game when available for Lens, but was absent for a five-game period due to heart problems.
Postecoglou confirmed that his new addition will be ready to face Liverpool with three first-choice defenders unavailable.
Radu Dragusin suffered an injury to his Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), ruling the Romanian out for the rest of the campaign.
Romero remains out with a muscular injury, whilst Postecoglou continues to ease Van de Ven back into his plans and won’t be risked on Thursday.
Danso is expected to be drafted straight into the starting line-up at Anfield, with as many as TEN senior players sidelined with various issues.
In spite of Tottenham’s new recruits and narrow first-leg advantage, Liverpool remain the favourites to progress to the Carabao Cup final, where they will meet Newcastle United at Wembley Stadium next month.
