Manchester City, Liverpool and the remainder of the Premier League are watching with intrigue as they await the former's sentence.
In February 2023, the Premier League lodged 115 charges against the club relating to the payment of managers and players between the 2009/10 and 2017/18.
City have always denied the allegations and insisted they had 'irrefutable evidence' to clear their name.
An independent panel only heard evidence in September 2024 and retired to consider their verdict in December.

Since then, it has been deemed 'only a matter of time' before we hear the verdict but, as of yet, that has not been forthcoming.
The ECHO has taken a look at how Liverpool would benefit, or not as the case may be, if this is the route the Premier League takes.
Their first Premier League title was awarded in dramatic fashion as Sergio Aguero scored deep into stoppage time to win the title on goal difference over their city rivals Manchester United.
This season was one to forget for Liverpool as they finished eighth, four points below Everton who finished a place above.
Under Brendan Rodgers' management, Liverpool came their closest to winning the Premier League title, to that point, in 2013/14.
The top two both scored more than 100 goals in the Premier League that year but City managed to win the title with a two-point advantage over the Reds.

City became centurions in this season as they racked up an impressive 100 points in the Premier League.
