Arne Slot will not be in the dugout when Liverpool face Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Reds host the Saints at Anfield as they aim to secure another three points in the title race.

Liverpool have a 13-point lead over Arsenal, which could be extended to 16 points with a win over Southampton on Saturday afternoon.

The Gunners will then face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, and would still have a game in hand compared to the Reds.

Liverpool have won each of their last three matches in all competitions without conceding a single goal.

Their last Premier League victory saw them claim a 2-0 win over Newcastle United last month, in what was the first of Slot's two-game touchline suspension.

Slot and Liverpool assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff were both issued red cards in the aftermath of the 2-2 draw in the Merseyside derby last month.

The FA subsequently issued the duo two-game touchline bans, which were to be served in the fixtures against Newcastle and Southampton.

With Slot and Hulshof watching on from the stands as Liverpool beat Newcastle last week, it will be the same plan of action for when the Reds take on Southampton.

Neither Slot nor Hulshoff will be permitted to be on the touchline during the match against the Saints, but who will be in the dugout instead?

If Liverpool go with the same formula as the staff who were on the sidelines against Newcastle, assistant coach John Heitinga will be in the hotseat.

The former Everton star could be joined by first-team individual performance coach Aaron Briggs, who was alongside Heitinga in the dugout when the Reds beat Newcastle.

After Liverpool face Southampton, Slot will be able to return to the touchline for their next Premier League fixture.

However, the Reds will have to wait almost a month until their next top-flight match where they will face Everton in the Merseyside derby on April 2.
