Liverpool manager Arne Slot has been formally suspended from the touchline for two Premier League matches and fined £70,000 by the Football Association (FA) following his dismissal in the chaotic aftermath of the final Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.

The incident, which unfolded after Everton’s 98th-minute equalizer in a 2-2 draw on February 12, 2025, has been in the background for a little while after a special disciplinary body went through their protocols.

Liverpool’s frustration stemmed from multiple contentious calls, including the lack of a foul on Konate in the buildup to Tarkowski’s goal and a perceived inconsistency in timekeeping.

Slot later admitted the “emotions got the better” of him during the post-match exchange with Oliver, acknowledging his regret over the confrontation.

The FA also charged assistant manager Sipke Hulshoff and both clubs, citing failures to control players and staff.

An independent regulatory commission reviewed testimony from Oliver’s officiating team, Slot, and Liverpool representatives, ultimately accepting the charges.
