Jamie Carragher was not in attendance at Anfield as Liverpool were confirmed as Premier League champions with a crushing 5-1 win over Tottenham.

Dominic Solanke did give Spurs an early lead, but goals from Luis Diaz, Alexis Mac Allister, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and an own goal from Destiny Udogie earned Liverpool a dominant victory.

And a number of Liverpool legends were at the game to watch the club win their 20th league title, including Ian Rush and Kenny Dalglish.

However, Carragher was not among them as he was at the London Marathon instead.

Carragher's wife Nicola was competing in the race and she has now finished all six World Marathon Majors after running in London, Tokyo, New York, Boston, Berlin and Chicago.

Taking to Instagram, Carragher wrote: "Wonder Woman @nicolacarragher finished her marathon challenge of the six @wmmajors in seven months!

"Very very proud husband, can't even begin to know how her body must feel today but she'll get herself in shape for the next one in Sydney in August Well done my little pocket rocket."

Although Carragher was not at Anfield, he did deliver his verdict on Liverpool's triumph in a column for the Telegraph as the Reds equalled Manchester United's record for 20 league title victories.

"In winning the Premier League at his first attempt, Arne Slot has scored one of the most celebrated equalisers in Anfield history; Liverpool can proudly call themselves record title-winners again," Carragher wrote.

"True, it is an honour they must temporarily share with Manchester United, the giants of English football tied at 20-20.

When you add Anfield's six European Cups to the league tally, the last counter-argument they were clinging to at Old Trafford has been obliterated."

And United legend Gary Neville believes Liverpool are now the most successful English club in history, telling Sky Sports : "It's a massive deal.

When you think of the importance of a league title and the great managers Liverpool have had: Shankley, Paisley, Kenny Dalglish, Joe Fagan.

"And then obviously at United as well, talking about the importance of your bread and butter being the league title.

It should cause real tremors over at Old Trafford.

"The idea that Liverpool - which is obviously a great football club - will be the most successful club in English football after today, that really should cause heartache and pain, because it took a lot to get ahead of Liverpool.
