Despite being spotted at Anfield at the weekend, it seems we shouldn’t be getting ready to welcome Jorrel Hato as a new Liverpool player anytime soon.
The 18-year-old was spotted in the crowd during the Reds’ 4-1 win over Ipswich on Saturday, leading to suggestions that a move could be in the works before the January transfer window closes next week.
Indeed, TeamTalk has claimed that Liverpool is considering Hato as a possible addition in the summer, although with Chelsea and Real Madrid making inquiries, it has been suggested the move could be brought forward.
Hato’s surprise appearance at Anfield was discussed on the latest episode of Dutch outlet De Telegraaf’s podcast, with reporter Mike Verweij confirming that Liverpool has been watching the teenager closely.
However, it seems that his strip to Merseyside doesn’t have anything to do with an impending move.
Instead, it’s explained (via X user TheEuropeanLad) that Hato attended the game against Ipswich after being invited by his friend Ryan Gravenberch
With Ajax not in action over the weekend, the defender was free to make the trip over from Amsterdam to see his fellow Dutchman in action.
Furthermore, while Verweij claims that both Liverpool and Real are following Hato’s progress, a move before the January window closes does not look to be on the cards (as per VoetbalZone).
It’s suggested that Hato himself doesn’t consider it to be the right time to make a transfer, while Ajax is also said to not be prepared to let him go “under any circumstances”.
Liverpool has reportedly been keeping a close eye on Jorrel Hato
While a move before the end of the window might not be in the works, Hato is a signing that would seemingly make a lot of sense for Liverpool
