Liverpool will go from having a game in hand over second-placed Arsenal at the beginning of last week to having played a game more than the Gunners by the end of this week.
The postponement of the Merseyside derby at Goodison Park last December meant that the Reds had played a game fewer than Arsenal up until that rescheduled fixture took place last week.
And Liverpool is in action in another rearranged game this week, with Arne Slot's men due to travel to Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
The game against Villa was originally scheduled for the weekend of March 15/16, but Liverpool's participation in the Carabao Cup final on March 16 meant the game against Villa had to be rearranged.
The new date for the Villa game (February 19) means that Liverpool is currently in the midst of a run of five Premier League games in the space of 15 days, with the first being last week's 2-2 draw versus Everton and the second coming against Wolves on Sunday.
Following Wednesday's game against Aston Villa, the Reds travel to Manchester City on February 23 before another midweek game, at home to Newcastle, on February 26.
Villa was left frustrated by the Premier League's decision to reschedule the game against Liverpool for this week, with the Midlands club having requested for the game to place later in the season.
It means Villa will end up playing a total of seven matches in all competitions during February, while the club is only scheduled to play one Premier League match during March.
.
“We were planning three weeks [of no midweek games], but we are only going to have two," Villa manager Unai Emery said.
Because we are in the Champions League and FA Cup, we have matches to play, but only one in the Premier League in March
They need to be demanding and fair with their decisions."
Despite Emery's complaints, Villa's continued participation in the FA Cup and both teams' involvement in the Champions League meant there would not have been another free midweek in the schedule until the week commencing April 20.
