Premier League referee Anthony Taylor and his officiating team have been praised after allowing Liverpool's second goal against Manchester City to stand despite two players being in offside positions in the build-up.
City's chances of rescuing anything out of their clash with the Reds on Sunday were over at half-time when Mohamed Salah and Dominik Szoboszlai gave Arne Slot's side a commanding lead.
However, the home supporters were frustrated in the stadium that the second goal was allowed to stand when replays showed that both Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones had strayed into offside positions during the build-up.
On the latest episode of Ref Watch, ex-Premier League referee Dermot Gallagher explained why City complaints were unfounded.
"He (Szoboszlai) does not get anywhere near the ball," Gallagher said on Sky Sports News.
Szoboszlai is in an offside position and that is not an offence.
"He starts to go, realises he is offside, so he clearly stops.
The point he stops there, he now becomes onside but if you watch as he runs on, when he shoots, Curtis Jones is in an offside position.

"Again, not an offence but the assistant will not have the knowledge of where he is in line with the goalkeeper so the referee has to play his part there.
The assistant will ask Anthony Taylor for his help before he flags and Anthony Taylor will say: ‘He is left of the goalkeeper, the ball has gone to the right, he is not in the line of vision, goal stands.’
"I think it was very, very good." This sentiment will be shared by Liverpool supporters after they increased their lead at the top of the Premier League table.
