Liverpool supporters watching the League Cup final on television will not see Alan Shearer on any coverage from the match at Wembley Stadium featuring his beloved Newcastle United.
Shearer revealed days after Newcastle won their semi-final against Arsenal that he would be at Wembley.
During an episode of The Rest is Football podcast, the Premier League's all-time leading goal-scorer explained his plans.
"I'll be going to the final," Shearer responded when asked by Micah Richards whether he was.

"I've had to politely decline two or three requests to work on the final; I'm going as a fan.
I can't not be at Wembley - and I know it's an if - if Newcastle wins a cup!
"First domestic one in 70 years; if we win it, I have to be a fan.
He did so two years ago for the League Cup final in 2023, which they lost 2-0 to Manchester United.
Before that match, he explained: "I'm going there with friends and family; it's going to be a good day - if we win.
I'm there as a fan on Sunday, that drive up to Wembley Way when you can see the Newcastle fans - it's the only time I wish I could put my boots back on.
"I'm now one of them.
