Why isn’t Liverpool vs Southampton on TV in UK? How to watch Premier League match

Liverpool host Southampton at Anfield on Saturday afternoon, but UK football fans without a ticket unfortunately won't be able to watch along from home.

The Reds hope to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League over Arsenal when they welcome a struggling Saints side to the Kop at 3pm, with just 10 games of the season left to play for Liverpool.

Arne Slot has worked wonders on Merseyside since stepping in as Jurgen Klopp's successor at the end of the 2024/25 season, securing 20 wins and seven draws from 28 games played in the league.

Rock bottom of the Premier League with just nine points to their name, Southampton have endured 22 defeats thus far, and a very unlikely victory over Liverpool is needed should Ivan Juric hope to see Premier League football next season and avoid relegation to the Championship – no matter how big of an ask it is.

With an action-packed match ahead, many football fans across the UK will be disheartened to learn that they won't be able to watch along live unless they have secured a ticket at Anfield.

Here, Express Sport breaks down how you can follow the action instead.

Why isn't Liverpool vs Southampton on TV?

Saturday's fixture between Liverpool and Southampton is one of three 3pm kick-offs in the Premier League, and as a result, the match is subject to the country's blackout law which was introduced back in 1960.

That's not to say that football fans can't tune into Premier League football on Saturday, however, with Nottingham Forest's 12.30pm match with Manchester City being broadcast via TNT Sports, while Brentford's 5.30pm game with Aston Villa being shown on Sky Sports.

TNT Sports will also show Wolves' 8pm kick-off with Everton in the evening.

How to watch Liverpool vs Southampton

Overseas fans will still be able to watch the clash, dependent on their local broadcaster rights, as Premier League providers abroad don't have to adhere to the same rules as those in the UK with regards to the blackout.

Stateside fans, for example, will be able to tune into Peacock – which has the rights to all 380 Premier League matches this season.

UK fans, meanwhile, will have to wait for the Sky Sports highlights on YouTube which come soon after the full-time whistle has blown, as well as extended highlights in the evening.
