Wigan Athletic starlet Harry Rimmer has spoken out after going viral for his goal celebration after scoring the very first goal in Everton’s new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
The 18-year-old opened the scoring in front of 10,000 supporters in the first test event at the Blue’ new stadium on Monday night.
Coming after 12 minutes, the midfielder turned well on the edge of the box before finding the bottom corner.
Sprinting to the corner flag to perform a knee-slide, he was mobbed by his team-mates.
But after shaking them off, he held up his four fingers on his left hand and both thumbs to the supporters behind the goal, before repeating the sign again seconds later after racing off.

Such a gesture is believed to be in reference to Liverpool winning six European Cups, with the Latics youngster seemingly a Reds supporter who took the opportunity to mock the club’s Merseyside rivals.
Cole Simms doubled Wigan’s lead five minutes later and although Ray Robert scored a late consolation for Everton Under-18s, the visitors held on to become the first side to win in the Blues’ new stadium.
And after going viral for his celebration, much to the delight of the Liverpool fanbase, Rimmer has taken to social media to stick the knife in further to Everton.
Sharing BBC Sport’s Instagram post about his celebration on his own story, querying whether it was about Liverpool, the teenager wrote “Rattled” along with a shrugging emoji.

He would also share further story updates regarding his six-fingered celebration, as well as a picture of the Wigan squad celebrating their victory at the new stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock.
Rimmer’s celebration was even noticed by Liverpool head coach Arne Slot, with the Dutchman cheekily querying, ‘Who scored first?’ after sitting down for his pre-match press conference ahead of the Reds’ trip to Aston Villa on Tuesday morning.
