Liverpool players celebrate title success

Liverpool put on a five-star show as they were officially crowned English Premier League champions.

The rampant Reds came from behind to dump Ange Postecoglou and his Tottenham side 5-1 to seal the title in style.

Arsenal drew at home with Crystal Palace midweek making it mathematically impossible for them to catch the Reds if they picked up just one point at Anfield against Spurs.

It sees them move level with Manchester United for the most English top flight crowns.

Arne Slot's men have led from the front for most of the season, with the Dutchman taking the league by storm since replacing Jurgen Klopp last summer.

Arne Slot and Andy Robertson hug after title win

After only singing one first team player during the 2024 summer transfer window, few expected Liverpool to go on and dominate they way they have this season.

But with Manchester City falling well below their usual standards under Pep Guardiola and Arsenal faltering after the turn of the year again under Mikel Arteta, the consistency shown by Slot's side made it too difficult for any of the others to reign them in.

And it's an occasion fans will relish, having been forced to watch on from home as Klopp ended a 30-year wait to win the league amid Covid restrictions back in 2020.

And Slot's team could well be the ones to beat again next year after Mo Salah put an end to speculation surrounding his future by signing a two-year contract extension.

Captain and former Celtic star Virgil Van Dijk did the same last week, although Trent Alexander Arnold looks increasingly likely to leave the club, having been heavily linked with a free transfer switch to Real Madrid when his Anfield deal expires this summer.

For Scotland skipper Andy Robertson, it's his second league winners medal since joining the club and adds to his collection of two League Cups, one FA Cup and one Champions League.
