Jurgen Klopp left Liverpool last summer having spent nine hugely successful years on Merseyside.
He has been largely credited with leaving a strong foundation for his successor to go and build on the success that he brought to the club.
Klopp left Slot with a squad that was good enough to compete for major trophies year after year and that has been clear to see as Liverpool now see themselves just one point away from becoming Premier League royalty after another impressive domestic campaign.
It is all but confirmed that Liverpool will be the next Premier League champions, and that opens a discussion about the trophy lift and a city parade to celebrate the club’s triumph.
If Liverpool avoid defeat against Tottenham Hotspur today, they will lift the trophy on the final game of the season, after their home game against Crystal Palace on Sunday 25th May.
But, will Jurgen Klopp be at Anfield for that historic day?
It seems very possible.
Whilst there has been no official confirmation that the former Reds manager will be at Anfield that day, he is in Liverpool just two days prior so the odds are in favour of a Klopp appearance.
Jurgen Klopp will be attending the LFC Foundation’s Gala Ball on Friday 23rd May as he continues his work as an honorary ambassador for the club’s official charity.
It is likely the German stays in the city over the weekend to soak in the title celebrations.
Whilst Klopp won every trophy available in English football, Slot will equal his Premier League tally in his very first season, a remarkable achievement for the Dutchman.
The nature of Jurgen Klopp’s title win may also play a role in the club inviting him to the stadium on the final game of the season.
Liverpool last won the title in 2020, and were 28 points clear at the top of the table at some point during the 2019/20 campaign.
Then, with Liverpool within touching distance of the title, Coronavirus swept across the globe and shut down all sporting activities for months, throwing the season into doubt.
Fortunately, instead of the season being scrapped, football continued in the summer and Liverpool lifted the trophy.
The only problem was that it was to an empty Anfield, and Klopp may want to experience a trophy lift inside a packed stadium this time around.
Something he very much deserved during his time as manager.
