Arsenal legend and pundit Paul Merson believes things will be harder for Mohamed Salah at Liverpool next season without Trent Alexander-Arnold.
The Egyptian finally put pen to paper on a lucrative contract extension on Friday, which will extend his stay at Anfield until 2027 if fulfilled.
Of the three players out of contract, which also includes captain Virgil van Dijk and Alexander-Arnold, Salah is the first to commit his future to the Reds.
While there is a growing belief Van Dijk will remain at Liverpool beyond this season, the same cannot be said for Alexander-Arnold.
The right-back is a target for La Liga giants Real Madrid and widespread reports indicate he is set to leave as a free agent.

Salah has enjoyed a remarkable season under Arne Slot, registering 32 goals and 22 assists across all competitions.
His goal involvements have been one of the driving forces behind Liverpool’s title charge, leaving them just 11 points away from the ultimate prize with seven games remaining.
That said, Merson is of the belief Salah's numbers could dwindle from next season with Alexander-Arnold no longer behind him.
So, he will miss Trent 100 per cent.
“Teams will double up on Salah now because they won’t have to worry about the right-back.
So, that player who marks Trent will drop back and stop Salah and double up and they’ll let that player have the ball.
