Liverpool thanked their lucky stars on Sunday as they avoided a second-half capitulation against Wolves.
The Reds are heading into a punishing run of fixtures over the next ten days and knew they’d have a good chance to kick that off with a win against relegation threatened Wolves.
However, Vitor Pereira came to Anfield with a plan and the Wolves boss almost saw it pay off.
Despite boasting a 2-0 first-half lead, Liverpool looked rattled throughout the match.
They couldn’t get to grips with Matheus Cunha in particular and it felt like a late equaliser was inevitable.
That it never arrived was partly down to the excellent defending of Jarell Quansah.
Thrown on at half-time after Ibrahima Konate was almost sent off, Quansah stepped up massively for Liverpool.
And speaking after full-time, Arne Slot recognised that the 22-year-old has been showing signs of getting back to his old self recently.

There was one moment in the second-half where Quansah really bailed Liverpool out.
After the ball was cut back behind Andy Robertson into the Reds six yard box, it looked for all the world like an equaliser was coming.

But out of nowhere, Quansah appeared to scoop the ball away.
Jamie Carragher hailed Quansah’s clearance and speaking to the press after the game, so did Slot.

“All the boys showed great character second half,” the Liverpool head coach said.
“But recently I’ve seen Jarell back to his old level in training and in games.
Players like Jarell and Wata [Endo] are so vital for this team.”
While Carragher praised Quansah during commentary, he was scathing of Konate.
However, despite the mixed experiences of the two players, Konate being taken off should actually make it more likely that he starts against Aston Villa on Wednesday.
Although he was not substituted for fitness reasons, the Frenchman has had a handy rest going into this intensive 10 days.
As a result, despite Quansah putting in a better display than the No.5, it is surely Konate who will get the nod at Villa Park.
Nevertheless, after being somewhat frozen out by Slot, Jarell has at least sent a reminder that he can very much be counted upon.
