Arne Slot appeared unfazed by the nervy end to Liverpool's win over Wolves on Sunday.

The Reds restored their seven-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a 2-1 win at Anfield.

First half goals from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah had put the hosts in control at the interval.

However, Matheus Cunha's strike meant Slot's side had to hold on to a narrow lead for the remainder of the match.

Liverpool also set an unwanted record as they struggled to threaten the visitors' goal during the second period.

The Reds failed to attempt a single shot during the second half.

It is the first time the club have failed to do so in a single half of Premier League football at Anfield since such records were first kept during the 2003/04 season.

Slot admitted after the match that 'it's never the game plan' to not threaten the opposition goal, but insists he's not concerned by the performance.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he explained: "In a season where you want to achieve something, no matter what you want to achieve, you need to have wins like this as well.

"Two weeks ago, we played fantastic football when we beat Spurs 4-0, that's in a season.

But wins like this should also be in a season like this.

Why Liverpool boss Slot is still on the touchline to face Wolves despite Everton red

"It's never the game plan, not to create anything at all!

We were by far not enough of a goal threat in the second half."

Sunday's win sees Liverpool re-establish their lead over nearest challengers Arsenal in the title race.

The Gunners remain seven points adrift in second place with 13 matches remaining this season.

Slot was also asked about the title race following his side's latest victory.

The Dutchman told the BBC: "If you look at the last few seasons it has mostly been a battle between two teams.

"As things stand now it mostly looks like between us and Arsenal.

I believe they have a 15-point game unbeaten run and I think at the start of that we were seven points clear of them and we still are now.

"So, it tells you how well they are doing but also how well we are doing."

The gap to Arsenal could be extended further in midweek, though, with the Reds visiting Aston Villa on Wednesday night.
