The squad features nine players of Olympic age and 15 under the age of 23, highlighting an aggressive push towards generational renewal.“During this period leading up to 2027, we must carry out this work to find a clear direction,” Ancelotti told reporters on Thursday.“I believe that by the first friendly matches of 2028, as the [World Cup] qualifiers begin and preparations for the Copa America get underway, we’ll have a more established team. We need to make the most of 2027 to carry out this renewal.”Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker has been left out of Brazil’s 26-man squad, with Ancelotti opting to assess younger options between the posts.Bento, Lucas Perri and Coritiba youngster Morisco were selected as the three goalkeepers.
However, Ancelotti stressed that Alisson remains Brazil’s undisputed first choice, with the upcoming fixtures providing an opportunity to evaluate the squad’s goalkeeping depth.“We don’t need to test Alisson [for example],” the former Real Madrid coach added. Right now, it’s time to observe, refresh the squad, and help young players reach their full potential.”Alisson, who was also left out of Brazil’s squad during the September/October international break, will remain at Liverpool during the upcoming break, avoiding long-haul travel to Southeast Asia.
