Liverpool supporters are still expecting their team to buy at least one new forward this summer, with Yan Diomande the obvious target. But as the Reds drag their heels over a second offer for Diomande, they are likely to be exploring other options.Monaco’s Maghnes Akliouche looks set to leave the Principality this summer, and as he continues to feature at the World Cup with France, journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that things are heating up in the race to sign him. Name the five further signings Liverpool need to make after Victor Munoz this summer 👇 The Reds could reportedly target two forwards, two midfielders and a versatile defender… Three clubs pushing for AklioucheParis Saint-Germain are being seen as Liverpool’s biggest rivals for Diomande, and after the European champions sold Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan, they have a spot opening up in their squad.According to Romano, though, this could now be filled by Akliouche, not Diomande, with PSG moving to get ahead of two unnamed Premier League clubs for the 24-year-old.

Though their identities are not mentioned, one of these could easily be Liverpool.“Paris Saint-Germain are leading the race ahead of two Premier League clubs for Maghnes Akliouche,” Romano posted to X on Saturday.“French talent expected to be among next stars to move this summer with talks and approaches intensifying. AS Monaco expect bids soon.”READ MORE: How Victor Munoz matched Lamine Yamal in La Liga and what it says about his Liverpool roleLiverpool likely to be tracking AklioucheRomano later took to his YouTube channel to claim that talks are advancing between PSG, Monaco and Akliouhce to try and find an agreement for the France international. With PSG expecting competition from the Premier League, though, Liverpool will surely be one of the other interested parties.

But the Reds moved in silence to sign Victor Munoz earlier this summer, and it would not be a surprise if their supposed back-up list contains other names not known to the public.Pacy, a good age, and having developed well at Monaco, Akliouche would be a decent bet to be one of those.Either way, it sounds as though Liverpool are going to have to step up their efforts if they are to snatch the Frenchman away from PSG or they could see a viable Diomande alternative slip away.
