The Reds are locked into a battle with Chelsea for Bournemouth's Alex Scott after he rejected the Cherries' latest contract offer. The south coast club may have to resign themselves to losing the midfielder, perhaps even as early as January, as he seeks a move away from the club to further develop in his career. Can you blame him? Scott has improved immensely over the past year, and was nominated for the Premier League Young Player of the Season for the 2025/26 season.Understandably, Bournemouth are reluctant to let the English midfielder leave, and are rumoured to be willing to listen to offers of over £100 million.

With his international debut adding to his price and reputation, it's no surprise that Bournemouth want to tie him down to a new contract, as his current one expires in 2028. The 23 year-old is not short of admirers either - Chelsea have been circling, and naturally Liverpool are linked as well since Iraola joined the Reds to replace Arne Slot in the summer. It has been rumoured that the Cherries were willing to include a release clause into his new contract to make his departure easier next summer, but Scott has rejected this and continues to play hard ball.He has reportedly even turned down £150,000 a week which would have surpassed Antoine Semenyo's weekly wage prior to his move to Manchester City.Liverpool and Chelsea go head to head on yet another targetThe Blues and Liverpool are the main two clubs linked to Scott, with Chelsea's insatiable desire to hoard talent rearing its head once again, while the Reds may be looking at Bournemouth's number 8 to replace Mac Allister, who is embroiled in his own contract saga. The two clubs are also reportedly both vying for AS Monaco's Lamine Camara, and Chelsea had their move for the Senegal international fall through at the last minute on deadline day.Chelsea are looking to fill an Enzo Fernandez-shaped hole in midfield after the Argentine joined Manchester City and believe Scott is the right man to do it.

Meanwhile the option of Merseyside could tempt the English midfielder, as it would be a chance to reunite with Iraola, and he would slot into the side with ease. A move in January could be facilitated by the departure of Wataru Endo, who has been out of favour for some time now. It's hard to see the Reds move for another £100+ million player, but that seems to be the going rate for highly rated players in the current market.Whatever happens, keep your eyes on this one, it's going to get very interesting.Add us as a preferred source on GoogleFollow
