Jeremy Jacquet’s final season at Rennes was spoiled by a shoulder injury, with the need for surgery throwing his expected Liverpool arrival into question. That’s set to happen sooner than we feared, with James Pearce expecting him back fit for the start of Liverpool’s pre-season.

Jacquet addresses a gaping Liverpool need at the back, so it would have been frankly devastating to have him miss a significant amount of time. As he writes for The Athletic: “Provided the operation goes to plan, however, Liverpool expect Jacquet to be available for the start of pre-season in early July.”He goes on to explain how Jacquet’s new team have been keeping a close eye on his situation.
