Throw in Gakpo on the back of a terrible season, and this is slightly worrying for Liverpool.Clearly, there are other options, with Alexander Isak in particular expected to carry a lot of the goal-scoring burden, but the Swede has been injury-prone since joining in 2025 and there is wariness that he may miss another chunk of football in 2026/27.If that happens, and without the injured Hugo Ekitike, Liverpool do not necessarily look in a better position than they were last season.Plenty will be expected of Diomande, especially given his likely £100m+ price-tag, but he is only 19, and there is no guarantee that he will hit the ground running.
