Liverpool have three exciting alternatives to Ibrahim Mbaye as they look to add two more wingers

Liverpool supporters can hopefully look forward to a busy end to the transfer window after being told that two new wingers are still expected to arrive.The Reds are in constant contact with Paris Saint-Germain over a deal to sign Bradley Barcola and, as journalist Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday, Ibrahim Mbaye remains on Liverpool’s shortlist as well.Romano says Mbaye is currently seen as being too expensive as things stand, however, but goes on to confirm that Liverpool are still likely to add two more wingers regardless. Clearly hoping to play Barcola on the left, here are three potential alternatives who the Reds could look to sign on the right wing.

Remember, the Reds have a buy option of around £47m… Photo Credit: Getty Images/Liverpool William Gomes – PortoIf they are looking for a left-footer to add to their attack this summer, Liverpool have fairly limited options, hence the initial decision to look at a right-footed right-sided player like Mbaye.Nevertheless, there are some out there, with the standout arguably being Porto’s William Gomes.After arriving at the Dragao from Sao Paulo in January 2025, Gomes showed his potential by hitting 14 goals last season.Still only 20, and only just becoming a nailed-on starter for Porto, the Brazilian would surely not be as expensive as Mbaye, and looks like having similarly high potential.Photo by Diogo Cardoso/Getty ImagesREAD MORE: Bradley Barcola’s behaviour after PSG won the European Super Cup could interest Liverpool fans after transfer linksThough Portuguese clubs can sometimes be difficult to deal with, Liverpool have a good relationship with Porto, and getting Gomes now would still be cheaper than waiting another year, in which he could explode further.So far, there have been no concrete links to suggest that this is one the Reds are looking into, but he could yet emerge as they ponder whether to move on from Mbaye.Chemsdine Talbi – SunderlandAndoni Iraola has already stated that he wants his wingers to be able to play on both sides, hence the interest in Mbaye.An interesting option who could also go on either the right or the left would be Sunderland’s Chemsdine Talbi, who has recently been linked with a move to RB Leipzig as a replacement for Yan Diomande.Though he is more of a left sider, Talbi can play on either wing, and has the pace, unpredictability and dribbling skills to pique Liverpool’s interest.His four Premier League goals last season could be a concern, but at 21 Talbi is going to get better and better, and looks destined to leave Sunderland at some stage.

Photo Credit: Getty Images/SIMON WOHLFAHRT / AFP/ Andy Buchanan It is unclear what the Black Cats’ asking price would be, and they are surely unlikely to want to lose the Moroccan so close to the beginning of the season.They signed him from Club Brugge for around £20.5m last summer, and would probably want to secure a healthy profit, but his lack of output should make him a fairly cost-effective addition if a deal could be done.Francisco Conceicao – JuventusFinally, Liverpool could look at a more established left-footed forward and come in for Francisco Conceicao, who is reportedly still on the lookout for a club this summer.Signing a player who is seemingly unwanted in a poor Juventus team may not be especially enticing to fans, but Conceicao is still an exciting forward who would add plenty to Liverpool.Fast, tricky and with an eye for a spectacular goal, the Portugal international is also an extremely hard-worker who has an asking price of just £34m.As Juventus look to move him on, that price could drop later in the window, making Conceicao a signing with plenty of upside.Either Gomes or Talbi would potentially be more exciting signings – and Liverpool will have other options they are assessing as well – but with elite club experience under his belt and a growing international pedigree, don’t write Conceicao off either.
