Maybe that’s because he just doesn’t look the same player who dominated at St James’ Park. It’s understandable given his lengthy absence through injury, but the hope is that he can rediscover that sharpness.

He kept a clean sheet for his part, so can’t fault the third-choice keeper but there were a couple of dodgy moments. When he did get a chance in injury time, he should have done better to get it on target.
