New Liverpool winger Victor Munoz has suffered a fresh injury setback. Munoz completed a move to Anfield in the region of £35 million from Osasuna on Thursday to become the maiden signing of Andoni Iraola’s fledgling tenure.
The Spain international, who has signed a six-year contract with the Reds, is currently at the World Cup after being named in Spain’s 26-man squad. But Munoz’s involvement at the tournament has been plunged into fresh doubt due to a calf problem despite returning to training ahead of their clash with Saudi Arabia.
The Royal Spanish Football Federation confirmed on Friday that the 22-year-old is sidelined for the foreseeable future after a fresh muscle injury was diagnosed. “During [Munoz’s] scheduled and individualised recovery process, an additional muscle injury has occurred, which will delay his return to competition,” read the statement.
