Fernando Torres’ arrival in 2007 limited Crouch’s opportunities and he departed for Portsmouth in 2008, having scored 42 goals in 134 appearances for Liverpool. The 45-year-old will now return to Anfield for the Liverpool FC Legends charity match against Borussia Dortmund Legends on Saturday, March 28 (3pm GMT), raising funds for the LFC Foundation.

He scored twice on his Legends debut last year in a 2-0 win over Chelsea Legends. The team will be led by manager Sir Kenny Dalglish, alongside LFC Foundation honorary ambassador Jürgen Klopp, LFC official ambassador and all-time record goalscorer Ian Rush and Forever Reds chair John Aldridge.
