Sadio Mane, Georginio Wijnaldum and Joel Matip arrived in 2016/17, followed by Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Andy Robertson the next season.Alisson, Naby Keita, Fabinho and Xherdan Shaqiri were then added in 2018/19. This gradual build is one of the reasons Liverpool continue to back Slot, believing a full rebuild under him has yet to be completed, with Hughes committed to that process.Liverpool currently sit fifth in the table, occupying the final Champions League qualification spot, with six games remaining and Chelsea just three points behind.
