MORE FOOTBALL INSIDER STORIES Celtic wanted to sign him in January and remain interested in his services, but face an uphill battle to do so in the summer due to his heroics on the European stage.Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “I think obviously (his form) might bring bigger clubs with bigger budgets into the race for Kasper Hogh. “Again, Celtic looked at him in January as they were looking for striking reinforcements, but I think obviously the success of Bodo/Glimt meant that they didn’t want to entertain letting their forward go.“They wanted to keep him for those Champions League playoffs, and obviously that move has paid off, because they pulled off a real shock result against Inter Milan to reach the last 16.

“Obviously they will bank a lot of money from their success in Europe as well, so they’re not under any pressure to sell the likes of Kasper Hogh, and if Bodo are able to offer him, and other players, the opportunity to play in the Champions League, it’s going to be hard to prise them away.“I think the ship has sailed now for Celtic to have any chance of signing him. His price tag will have gone up quite a lot in recent weeks and months as well due to his success in the Champions League.”Read more: Celtic ‘to consider’ Benjamin Nygren approach as Premier League interest buildsCeltic will entertain big offer for Benjamin Nygren this summerIn terms of players who already ply their trade for Celtic, Nygren could well be in his way out of the club this summer if an interested club stumps up enough cash. The Sweden international midfielder has been a standout for the Hoops since he joined from Nordsjaelland last summer, with 18 goals and six assists in 44 appearances so far.His strong form has seen numerous top European clubs register their interest in his services, and sources have told Football Insider that Celtic could accept a sizeable bid to sell him this summer. He is contracted to the Parkhead side until 2029, and Premier League clubs are believed to be keeping an eye on his progress north of the border.
