I am a Leipzig player. It’s not only about playing football, but the club helped me a lot off the pitch.

The media only sees me on the pitch, but the club helped me a lot with my family and my mom,” Diomande said.“The only thing I can do for them is to give everything on the pitch and this is what I’m trying to do every day.”Diomande signed for Leipzig for just €20 million from Spanish side CD Leganés in the summer of 2025, having previously developed at DME Academy in the United States before breaking into La Liga. There have been reports in Germany that Leipzig want to offer a new deal to the 19-year-old at the end of the season, one that has a release clause to safeguard his future.Responding to questions around all the speculation on where he could end up playing next year, the winger said.“You gonna be happy and motivate to do more,” Diomande explained.“I don’t really think about this kind of thing because I’m trying to be focused on the pitch and because my job is playing football so [his representatives] gonna take care of everything outside of the pitch. So this kind of things give me a lot of motivation to see a lot of clubs speaking about you and stuff like this, but I’m focused.”For Liverpool, the message is clear: the admiration is mutual, but prising Diomande away from Leipzig will likely be a long‑term project rather than a quick summer swoop. As long as he keeps performing at this level in the Bundesliga and on the European stage, the links to Anfield are not going anywhere – even if the player himself is doing his best for now to cool the noise around his future.
