Justin Setterfield/Getty Images Highly rated Genk goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans is ‘on his way’ to Liverpool, but ‘there is a chance’ that he could see out the season in Belgium. The 18-year-old signed his first professional contract with the Belgian side in August 2023, initially committing his future to the club until 2026.

His performances for Genk’s Under-23 side earned him his senior debut in April, and he went on to make eleven appearances in the Belgian Pro League, catching the eye in the process. His displays subsequently earned him a long-term contract extension, with Genk tying the goalkeeper down until June 2030 to secure his future at the club.

However, it appears the 18-year-old is set to move away from the Belgian club, with Liverpool recently approaching Genk over a deal for him. However, the 18-year-old could still finish the season at Genk, as Liverpool consider how to keep his development flowing in the best way.
