Arne Slot faced more questions about how he’s going to turn Liverpool around after one of the worst displays of the season away to Aston Villa. The 4-2 scoreline at Villa Park ultimately flattered the Reds, who could easily have been on the receiving end of a genuine thumping. For Slot, it only served to ramp up the pressure on him ahead of the season’s end, and as fans grapple with the disappointment of knowing that he’s likely to be in charge of Liverpool next year, the Dutchman has insisted that the summer transfer window is going to change everything. Who was Liverpool’s worst player on a terrible night at Villa Park?

“One of the things we have to improve which is very, very, very obvious and – I would’ve preferred not to talk about it here but you’re actually almost forcing me to – if you miss nine players who can start a game of football and almost all of them are starters, or have been for a large part of the season, then if you add that to what you can improve in a window, and add that to players that are playing for a second season in the Premier League, that will automatically lead to much more,” he said. After witnessing yet another turgid and worrying display, it is unlikely that many supporters will chime with Slot’s positivity.
